Memoranda on various subjects, [early 19th century].

Manuscript, in multiple hands, of a collection of memoranda on such topics as the peerage and genealogies of British nobility; members of Parliament; and drafts of articles and poems. The volume begins with a negative review of the peerage compiled by Thomas Christopher Banks and a group of pedigrees and genealogical charts of various nobility, including the families of Haydon and Newcomer. Other items include a list of members gone out of and come into Parliament in 1802; an extract from the Gentleman's Magazine on the vices of men of genius; drafts of short literary articles; a portion of a fictional piece regarding the romantic passion of George De Clifford; and fragments of several poems, including a number of religious verses. The manuscript also contains a personal letter, dated 1826 Jan 9, from Montagu Pennington to Brydges' son Thomas Brydges Barrett and written on a printed list of Sir Egerton Brydges' works, printed 1819-1825.
